TRACE is a cornerstone of Sri Lanka’s dynamic innovation economy, and is dedicated to moving our nation up the global value chain through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
In 2013, a group of tech entrepreneurs partnered with the Sri Lankan Government to revitalize a dilapidated block of warehouses from the colonial era into an IT and Innovation Park with the aim of kickstarting an innovation ecosystem in post-war Sri Lanka.
Christened ‘TRACE’, the project has now evolved into a nation-wide platform to drive innovation and entrepreneurship across Sri Lanka. TRACE is now home to leading names in the tech space such as the London Stock Exchange Group, Vega Innocations, CodeGen, Calcey and others, as well as many startups who directly and indirectly benefit from the various initiatives and networks fostered within.

Port City Colombo has taken a further step towards establishing itself as a pivotal technology hub in the region by entering into a formal partnership with TRACE Sri Lanka – a leading organization that promotes collaboration, creativity, and entrepreneurship through technology and innovation across disciplines in Sri Lanka. The MOU formalising the partnership was signed by Mr Xiong Hongfeng – Managing Director of CHEC Port City Colombo (Private) Limited, and Mr Kusal Subasinghe, Chairman of TRACE Sri Lanka. Also present at the signing ceremony were, on behalf of Port City Colombo, Stan Li – Chief Marketing Officer, and Radika Obeyesekere – Director of Investment Promotion and Marketing, along with Executive Director of TRACE Sri Lanka, Heminda Jayaweera.

TRACE – Sri Lanka recently hosted TRACE Innovation Connect 2024 at TRACE Expert City, marking a significant step towards building collaboration between the Sri Lankan tech diaspora and their homeland. Organised in partnership with Work in Sri Lanka, the event successfully gathered over 100 expatriates, tech leaders, entrepreneurs, foreign delegates, and diplomats. This gathering aimed to enable a ‘brain gain’ for Sri Lanka by encouraging the migration of technical know-how and inspiring the Sri Lankan tech diaspora to actively contribute to the nation’s innovation and economic resilience.
